LEARN THE UNITRONICS PLC!

The PLCs are very important part of the industrial automation, so we will talk about it very often. There are many brands which offer many varieties of PLCs. The Z-8AI is used to interface analog inputs (Voltage or current, also with bipolar range) with Modbus system. BIIIIG DRAMA IN LIVERPOOL!

Hi, football fans! After the amazing spanish derby in the Champions League, last night we became witnesses of another dramatic match when Liverpool stun Borussia Dortmund with a thrilling comeback to make it Liverpool 4-3 Dortmund (agg: 5-4). The Reds secured a stunning comeback victory to secure safe passage into the semi-finals on a night to remember at Anfield. Liverpool completed one of the most startling comebacks in UEFA Europa League history to defeat Borussia Dortmund and book their place in Friday's semi-finals draw. Jürgen Klopp's side scored three second half goals to hand the German coach a 5-4 aggregate victory against his former club with Dejan Lovren crashing in a late header in front of the Kop on a famous night at Anfield. Unperturbed by the heated atmosphere, Dortmund started brightly, showing they meant business from the off. After the hosts lost possession too high in the fifth minute, Henrikh Mkhitaryan started and finished an outstanding counterattack for the opening goal. BVB were two goals to the good four minutes later, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang supplying an excellent finish to Marco Reus's defence-splitting pass. With a mountain to climb, Liverpool slowly improved, and Adam Lallana could have cut the deficit had he not miscued. Shortly after the interval Liverpool did pull a goal back, with Divock Origi latching onto Emre Can's through-ball and finishing calmly.

Hope at Anfield was restored, but Reus's fine finish from Mats Hummels's pass sent the travelling fans into raptures once more. Undeterred, Liverpool continued to attack and again cut the deficit, Philippe Coutinho's trademark strike from distance leaving Roman Weidenfeller no chance. Mamadou Sakho found the net late on, setting up a climactic end to a unpredictable evening. Lovren then etched his name into Anfield folklore with a winner in added time to give Liverpool yet another famous comeback victory. What a night in the Champions league! Last night Antoine Griezmann crushed Barcelona in the quaterfinal second leg. "The whole side put in a great shift," said Griezmann after starring in Atlético's elimination of holders Barcelona, Filipe Luís noting that the Frenchman has a "special something".

A brilliant double from Antoine Griezmann helped Atlético Madrid knock UEFA Champions League holders Barcelona out at the quarter-final stage for the second time in three seasons on Wednesday.

Trailing 2-1 from the first leg and without the suspended Fernando Torres, Diego Simeone set up in a compact 4-4-2 formation that was designed to frustrate and contain Barcelona's midfield and attacking threats. It worked perfectly. "I'm so proud of the team," matchwinner Griezmann said afterwards. "We were up against one of the best sides in the world. We went face-to-face with them and we're into the semi-finals amongst the four best sides. "It's natural that you have difficulties when you play against Barcelona, but we were very good at the back. We come to the italian stuff again! I present to you the S315 - a 4 digit loop powered display with 4-20 mA input signal. 

S315, the new indicator of the compact S-Series, is a loop powered, high-performance digital display. The maximum error is only 0.005% with up to 16 bits. S315 stands a measurement loop of the active device (Vmax = 30 V), which must be greater than the maximum voltage across the voltage drop (7V). Programming is possible via the front menu keys. Access can be controlled via passwords. S315 acquires signals 4-20 mA current. All parameters of the con-figuration and display can be set to any menu with access protected by password. GPRS COMMUNICATION TO PLC!

Today we will talk about remote connectivity via GPRS/GSM modems to Omron PLCs. There are many PLC applications that require a remote connection, from monitoring data, SCADA control to PLC programming and process data adjustment. All of these applications require a reliable connection in a variety of industrial conditions. Combining the remote connectivity features of an Omron PLC with the flexibility of a wireless modem can save an engineer a costly trip to site or provide a communications link to a hazardous area. With the expansion of GSM & GPRS data services virtually any machine or process controlled by an Omron PLC can benefit from comprehensive two-way communication allowing interrogation, control and adjustment of the process from almost any remote location.

There are three main communication methods:

	Two-way SMS communication enables error and warning messages to be sent by text from the machine to a mobile phone. The machine could, for instance, be run or stopped using text messages, and the values within the PLC can be monitored or changed as required.
	Emails from the machine to the engineer's inbox give diagnostic information and status reports.
	Remote web-browsing allows access to the machine over the internet. This gives an engineer full control over the machine, using a standard web-browser.

Perhaps the simplest way to establish a remote connection to an Omron PLC is through the addition of a Westermo GDW-11 compact, DIN-rail mounting GPS/GPRS modem (RS part number: 539-6031). This unit can be plugged directly into the RS-232C port of any Omron PLC and with the addition of a data-enabled SIM card (to suit the location of the machine); you can be on-line in minutes!


Omron's 'CX-One' programming software suite fully supports modem or internet-based (IP address) connections, configured in seconds. The following application guide produced by Westermo in conjunction with Omron provides detailed information on how to setup, and configure the PLC and GSM modem to achieve remote communication.
